From the 5th to the 11th of july, the International Eisteddfod will take place in the delightful North Welsh town of Llangollen. This really is an amazing week of singing and dancing from choirs and groups from all over the world. Nigel Kennedy, Katherine Jenkins, and Only Men Aloud, are just some of the names appearing at the Eisteddfod this year. It all kicks of with a parade through the town of the twenty or so choirs and dance groups taking part. It is colourful, exotic and very noisy! Check out the website at www.llangollen2010.co.uk
Llangollen is a lovely town with a 19th century feel to it. However, the shops and galleries are anything but, and there is a great range of bars and pubs to suit all tastes. And if you are feeling nostalgic, the old railway station does a great line in steam trains. Watch out for their Ale and Rail runs! (see previous post about Ale Trails in Cumbria)

A great review of Llangollen.
It is a brilliant town with so much to offer- it is a great place to walk, cycle, canoe and go out! Nice to see someone writing about great local places and having experienced the ale and rail trail I highly recommend it!
Thanks, Ali, for the tip about the Ale and Rail Trail ! We’re coming all the way from Canada to experience this event…………….who knows, we may never go back home !
